This update will be a short one. As mentioned in the past, MDHHS is working to schedule trainings for the new MI Bridges system which every application assistant will be required to attend. They have recently announced that there will be no trainings in December. As soon as we have more information on training dates, we will share it with you.
In conjunction with the new MI Bridges roll out, MDHHS has also created a new application. You will find that this application is set up different from the old one, and the questions are not located in the same order. The best part is that the application is much shorter and rewritten for easier comprehension. As our state currently has the longest application in the US, the new application is very exciting.
The new system has some bells and whistles and looks quite nice. The new MI Bridges is a large step forward, and the way that MDHHS decided to go about this step, with input from organizations such as Elder Law of Michigan is admirable. They have also worked with clients to see what works best for them. Here’s to looking forward to a new year, with a new MI Bridges system, and a new application as well!
